As a general rule, preptv does not post the last name of elementary students while identifying their participation in a school activity or promoting their accomplishment in Knowledge, Character,
and Leadership.  Likewise preptv does not include any reference to a student in a posted jpeg or mpeg image file name.  These precautions should eliminate parental concerns about a child being
identified as the result of an Internet search.  However, in the event that a parent is uncomfortable with a posted text or image, preptv will remove the text or image upon notification.

Rio Salado reviews Prep's Dual Enrollment
North Pointe Preparatory has a long standing policy of offering students college classes.  Called “dual enrollment”
(DE) classes, students earn college credit while fulfilling their high school graduation requirements.  The Prep is
affiliated with Rio Salado College for the English portion of this endeavor.  Rio Salado has been in the DE business
for many years. They have cultivated relationships with the valley’s best high schools, and this year, North Pointe is
included in this elite group.

Rio’s policy is to review teachers semi-annually to maintain the level of quality that they strive for daily.  Ms. Cindy
Maxson, English DE coordinator recently observed the Prep’s Creative Writing class taught by Mrs. Mary Gray.
The lesson presented was entitled, “The Marriage of Current Events and Literature:  Makes for anything but a
happy ending.” It traced the history of using current events as inspiration for literary tomes from Sir Thomas More’s
Utopia to Margaret Atwood’s A Handmaid’s Tale. Students quickly caught onto the concept of using today’s current
events as fodder for their creative musings. Ms. Maxson spent the hour observing our DE juniors and seniors
comfortably expressing their abundant opinions.

Ms. Maxson’s follow up comments expressed that North Pointe was a “good fit” for the Rio DE family.  This firmly
places the Prep amongst the valley’s best schools in its affiliation with Rio.  Ms. Maxson also made a point of
expressing how nice North Pointe’s population of students is.  She was very perceptive in her assessment. Being a
charter school, students attend the Prep because they and their families have made the conscious choice to be
there.  They enter fully understanding that the school’s mission is college preparatory and that the curriculum is
rigorous.  With just over 600 students, the small, intimate community atmosphere gives students confidence to
express their views openly. Students are comfortable in a discussion environment and they are willing to venture
their thoughts.

North Pointe Preparatory offers six college English classes in conjunction with Rio Salado College:  Eng 101, Eng
102, Shakespeare: Early years, Shakespeare: Later years, Creative Writing and Modern Fiction.
