The Prep's Jr. High Baseball team won the Jr. Metro Baseball League
Championship on Thursday, by defeating Scottsdale Christian Academy 7-6.

The Falcons were led by the strong pitching of Blake Stines who pitched 5
solid innings.  He kept the SCA batters off balance by throwing a variety of
pitches.  Taylor Moreno came in and saved the game for the Falcons in the
6th inning.

Offensively the Falcons were led by Blake Peterson who hit a triple to start off
the 3rd inning which proved crucial.  Taylor Moreno cleared the bases with a
double which put the Falcons up for good.

The Jr. Metro Baseball League is made up of schools who also compete at
the High School Varsity level in the very tough AIA 2A Metro Region.  Three
and four years from now these same players will compete for the much
coveted region championship.

"This is a big deal for us," said the Prep's Athletic Director David Meredith.
"As we begin to build our program it is very encouraging to know that we have
that kind of talent joining our Varsity over the next several years."
