As a general rule, preptv does not post the last name of elementary students while identifying their participation in a school activity or promoting their accomplishment in Knowledge, Character,
and Leadership.  Likewise preptv does not include any reference to a student in a posted jpeg or mpeg image file name.  These precautions should eliminate parental concerns about a child being
identified as the result of an Internet search.  However, in the event that a parent is uncomfortable with a posted text or image, preptv will remove the text or image upon notification.

Physics students recently put their understanding of
the laws of rotational inertia and torque to the test
when their were tasked to design a racer that was
powered solely by a mousetrap.  Their goal was to
have the car go at least 5 meters (16 feet) over the
relative frictionless floor of the Nest.

A wide variety of designs were implemented by
students.  Most cars had four wheels, but several
had three, and there was even one two-wheel
motorcycle design.  Showing their ingenuity,
students used many common materials for wheels,
including plastic caps, cannibalized toy cars, CDs,
and even vinyl records!

When race day came there was a fair number of
mishaps as some last-minute designs fell apart

but the majority of the cars glided successfully across the gym floor as they were tested for both speed and distance.

The car that went the furthest for the day (23 meters, or about 75 feet!) was put together by Matt Leroy and Brea
Hendrix, with an assist from Chris Dalpe to make some last-minute modifications to squeeze every last meter.  Other
notable successes include the entry from John Haralson along with one from Princess McDaniels and Samantha
Bravo.
