prep theatre one act shows

The One-Act Performance class delighted the
audience with a series of short plays and
monologues. “It was quite a challenge,” said
Ms. Stone who teaches the class. “This was our
‘guinea-pig’ show. This first quarter was spent
gauging what level of material we could tackle,
how much time we needed to rehearse, and
how many pieces we could manage.
There were a lot of unknown variables.”

Despite all the unknowns, the evening went-off
beautifully. Highlights included a difficult piece
in which Daniel Cove taught Andrea Gray a
made-up language in “The Universal Language”
and Mike Murphy, Jessica Turner, Rebekah
Fine and Ian Woodwick wrapped-up the evening
with a charming tale from “Aria de Capo” which
is slated for an encore performance at Coffee
House Night in October.

Miss Stone added, “We had considerable
variety this evening: dramas, comedies, satires.
The students are getting a feel for just how
versatile an actor needs to be.”

The next One-Act Performance Showcase is at
the end of second quarter - December 18th.
