Piano Recital
The piano recital was unlike any other. There were 20 keyboards plugged in for the piano ensembles where students played different parts at the
same time. The solos were also a hit. There was everything from Bach played by Jake Gray, and “Superman” played by Ben Cleaveland. Students
who started this semester and students who have been taking for two years all impressed the audience.

Guitar Recital
“The guitar recital totally rocked!” raved the evening’s emcee, Ms. Tyler. Her class opened the show with an arrangement of the Guns N’ Roses hit
‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ who were followed by Ms. Schlanger’s class playing ‘The Huron Carol’. Mr. Hutson’s classes added lots of variety in both the
number of performers and styles of music.  Several quartets performed, there were multiple solos.  Senior, David O’ Connor closed out the night with
two original pieces, including a solo performance and a “grand finale” duet with David playing the electric guitar and Mrs. Hutson on the flute.  It was
truly an amazing finish to the evening.

Choral Concert
"The choir concert definitely won over the standing room only crowd," said Ms. Winzeler, Choir Director. "It’s amazing to see how far the three choirs
have come since the beginning of the year. I am constantly in awe of the dedication, hard work, and talent of the students”. The evening began with
the Junior High choir singing a Beatles favorite, “Here Comes the Sun” followed with a “Swingin’ on a Star”, which had fun riser choreography. Their
set ended with “Let the River Run” and began with a beautiful solo by Shawni Kurth. Next was the Concert Choir. “I am especially proud of this group
of women. They have worked so hard and have become such a tight knit family. You can really see how well they all work together,” said Ms. Winzeler.
The set of songs showed how many different styles this group is capable of. They started with a beautiful and lyrical French piece. Concert choir also
sang a fast piece called “Ching a Ring”, “Heart We Will Forget Him” which consisted of difficult harmonies, and a fun and jazzy “Java Jive”. Last in the
concert was Premier Choir. “This group has been so fun this year. They work so well together and the camaraderie is incomparable. I have not had a
choir sound as good as they do now,” said Ms. Winzeler. Premier Choir opened with a beautiful ballad from “The Lord of the Rings” called “May It Be”.
They then followed with an upbeat contemporary song called “Home”. “Si Vis Amari” was their Latin song meaning, if you want to be loved, love. The
audience loved  “Do You Love Me” and a surprise song, “Star Wars” - a compilation of songs composed by John Williams and had funny text written to
the melodies. Mallory Johnson and Bray Lawrence had solos. The crowd roared in laughter and applause.

Band Concert
The 2009 Spring Arts Festival ended on a grand scale! For the first time ever, all the bands in the Pointe Schools system performed under one roof.
The Nest was packed as the beginning bands from Canyon, Pinnacle and North Pointe kicked off the concert. The award winning Junior High Band
then wowed the audience with their festival selections. The crowd got their groove on when the percussion class played their four ensemble pieces.
Kierstyn Greenberg received the Director’s Choice award for outstanding Junior High Band member and the John Philip Sousa award was given to
senior Stephen Hutson for outstanding High School Band member. The High School Band finished the concert with their most difficult program ever.
Four time All-State Band member Stephen Hutson performed “The Flight of the Bumble Bee” on marimba. The band closed the evening with the crowd
favorite - a ten minute medley of Disney tunes!

Speech and Theatre Vignettes
The Speech Vignettes left the audiences wanting more as the Prep's Speech Team showcased Melody Chrispen doing a chilling enactment of the
classic story “Bloody Mary” and the current 1-3A State Champion in Drama, Katie Komos performing a Storytelling piece “Carolinda Clatter”. Some of
the night’s highlights included Pharaoh Lamothe and Frankie Marchi performing an odd but hilarious Tim Burton Duo and of course the evening was
capped with the audience astounded at the duo between Kaylinn Crowl and Jonathan Burgemeir with their ever popular “Twice Upon a Time”.

The Theatre Vignettes featured one-act playlets worked on all semester by the theatre classes. Set designs, props and costumes were decided on by
the three student directors, Alexis Green, Madi Winger and Brea Hendrix. “Each show was an individual showcase of the directors’ personality," said
Kay Gray, Theatre Director. "I am very proud of al three young ladies."
