Students in Chem/Physics got a chance to see one of the more spectacular chemistry demonstrations when they experienced flame tests. The science
behind them is that different chemicals, when burned, can cause flames to turn a variety colors. During the demonstration the chemicals (including
strontium, lithium, and copper) were mixed with alcohol and set on fire to create the various flames. Students were able to see one of the more
prominent examples of chemical properties and were able to correlate their experiences with lessons about the Periodic Table.
