As a general rule, preptv does not post the last name of elementary students while identifying their participation in a school activity or promoting their accomplishment in Knowledge, Character,
and Leadership.  Likewise preptv does not include any reference to a student in a posted jpeg or mpeg image file name.  These precautions should eliminate parental concerns about a child being
identified as the result of an Internet search.  However, in the event that a parent is uncomfortable with a posted text or image, preptv will remove the text or image upon notification.

Varsity Boys Basketball 2009-2010 Schedule
Game 1 at Valley Christian
The Falcons kicked off their season with a defeat at the hands of Valley Christian. Both teams played extremely tenacious man-to-man defense,
however for the Falcons too many turnovers turned into easy baskets for Valley which seemed to be the big difference in the outcome.  “We played
extremely hard at times, but had too many turnovers,” stated Coach Bob Smith.  “Give Valley credit for making things difficult for us tonight.”  At one
point the Falcons were down by as many as 28 points, however, the Falcons rallied a nice run to cut the lead to 12 points with a little over 5 minutes
remaining in the ball game.  Collin Weaver led the team in scoring with 13 points while Mikey Johnson added 8 points.

Game 2 vs Camp Verde
North Pointe played their second game of the season at Camp Verde and played extremely hard for 32 minutes of basketball only to fall a little short 76-
72. “This has to be one of the toughest places to play in the state,” Said Coach Bob Smith. "Camp Verde is athletic and very physical on the boards.”  
Two players for the Falcons had break out games. Cory McKinney scored 31 points while tying his school record 7 3-pointers, while Collin Weaver
scored 25 points, making 4 3 pointers.  “We cut down on our turnovers from our first game,” soad Coach Smith.

Game 3 vs Estrella Foothills
The Falcons had their home opener against two-time defending 3A State Champion Estrella Foothills falling 100-30. Both teams played hard for
32 minutes. "Estrella Foothills has been the State Champions the past two years for a reason," said Coach Bob Smith. "They have great talent, they are
well coached and Division I signee Cory Hawkins is hard to guard. I was pleased that my players gave their all until the final buzzer sounded." Collin
Weaver and Corey McKinney both scored 8 points a piece for the Falcons, while Jake Gray added 5 points.

Game 4 at Arizona Lutheran Academy
The Falcons had a tough loss on the road at Arizona Lutheran 68-57. One of the big differences in the ball game was the amount of free-throws
Arizona Lutheran attempted. “They shot 31 attempts to our 8. We were in foul trouble all night,” said Coach Smith. Collin Weaver scored 23 points while
Corey McKinney added 11 points. Blake Stine had a break out game pulling down 8 rebounds while scoring 9 points.

Game 5 vs Precision
The Falcons opened the game against Precision High School with perhaps their best 6 minutes of basketball this season. “Our press was causing
turnovers early and we were having a tremendous amount of fun out there," said Coach Smith. “We need to find away to sustain our defensive pressure
for 4 quarters of basketball.” Collin Weaver led the team in scoring with 14 points while Corey McKinney added 13 and Jake Gray chipped in 10 points.

Game 6 vs Horizon Honors
The Falcons went toe to toe with Horizon Honors falling in a nail bitter 61-58. “We put four good quarters of basketball together both offensively and
defensively and were able to compete with a much larger team. Our press when we ran it correctly caused a turnover every time. I am so proud of how
my team played tonight.“ said Coach Smith. Collin Weaver led the Falcons in scoring with 22 points while Blake Stine scored 14 points and had 7
rebounds.

Game 7 at Bourgade Catholic
North Pointe came out on fire against Bourgade Catholic taking an early 15-4 lead only to see there energy falter a bit letting Bourgade back
into the game. "I was so very pleased with our effort from the start," said Coach Bob Smith. "These player's really give their all from start to finish every
game." Collin Weaver led the team in scoring with 28 points, while Corey McKinney added 11 and Blake Stine going for 6 points. Final score
Bourgade Catholic 64 and North Pointe 55. The Falcons were a perfect 13 for 13 from the free throw line.

Game 8 vs Phoenix Christian
The Prep had a rough night shooting the ball going 14 for 46 from the field in a losing effort to Phoenix Christian 85-32. Collin Weaver led the Falcons
in scoring with 15 points while Mike Carnicle had 6 points. “It was an extremely intense game," said Coach Smith. "We couldn’t match their intensity and
execution throughout the game.

Game 9 vs South Pointe
North Pointe had an impressive win over South Pointe 69-61. Michael Carnicle had a break out game and finished with a double-double
scoring 16 points and adding 10 rebounds for the Falcons. Collin Weaver led all scorers with 22 points while Corey McKinney added 16.  "We
played 4 great quarter's of unselfish basketball," stated Coach Smith.

Game 10 at Northwest Christian
North Pointe had a rough shooting night against Northwest Christian going down in defeat 69-42. "We shot only 27% as a team," stated Coach
Smith. Collin Weaver led North Pointe in scoring with 12 points, while Corey McKinney added 11 points. Mike Carnicle played a good game for the
Falcons scoring 8 points and adding 5 rebounds. Freshman Brandon McKinney went 4 for 4 from the free throw line.

Game 11 vs Sedona
North Pointe played tremendous for 28 minutes of basketball against a very physical team from Sedona, falling short 66-53.  “We played extremely hard
for the entire game," stated Coach Smith. Collin Weaver led the team in scoring with 19 points followed by Corey McKinney with 13 points. Michael
Carnicle had 6 points and 11 rebounds for the Falcons.

Game 12 vs Westwind
The Prep's Collin Weaver made five 3-pointers in a tough loss for the Falcons falling to Westwind 93-37.  "We tried to play at their pace instead of
doing a better job trying to control the game," stated Coach Smith. "The start of the second half we started to hit our shots and play much better as a
team." Corey McKinney added 6 points while Jake Gray chipped in 5 points for the Falcons.

Game 13 at Tonopah
The Falcons had a nice victory on the road defeating Tonopah Valley 70-51. "It was very nice for us to get a win on the road," stated Coach Smith.
Corey McKinney led the Falcons in scoring with 23 points and 9 assists and 6 steals. Collin Weaver added 19 points, while Justin Knight added 10 and
Jake Gray chipped in 7 points.

Game 14 vs Tempe Prep
Hoops Central was rocking and so was the Falcons basketball team against Tempe Prep. With the Falcons holding a narrow 4 point lead entering half
time, 34-30, it was their defensive effort and their ability to take care of the basketball on offense that helped the Falcons put away the visiting team
from Tempe Prep with an impressive victory 61-41. Collin Weaver led the Prep with 28 points. "Collin was huge for us tonight," stated Coach Smith.
Corey McKinney added 11 points while Michael Carnicle had 10 points.

Game 15 vs Phoenix Country Day
North Pointe came out flat against Phoenix Country Day falling behind 35-17 at the half and eventually losing 71-38.  "Give Phoenix Country Day
credit," stated Coach Smith.  "They really shot the ball well tonight connecting on 15 3-pointers."  Collin Weaver led the falcons in scoring with 14
points., while Corey McKinney added 8 points for the Falcons.

Game 16 at Scottsdale Christian
The Prep played their best defensive game of the season against the #1 rated team in the State.  "We held them to only 52 points
in the game," stated Coach Smith. "No other team they faced all season had been able to do that."  Corey McKinney led the Falcons in scoring
with 8 points while Collin Weaver added 7 points. The final score was Scottsdale Christian 52 and the Prep 20.

Game 17 vs Phoenix Country Day
North Pointe Prep boy’s played extremely well at Phoenix Country Day on Senior night falling eventually 60-53.  Collin Weaver and Corey McKinney
both led the Falcons in scoring with 22 points a piece.  “I loved how we never gave up the entire game," stated Coach Smith.

Game 18 vs Tonopah
Senior night at Hoops Central was on fire just like the Senior boys. All five seniors for the Falcons scored in what was their final game of the season.  
Jake Gray had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Michael Carnicle had 10 points and 7 rebounds.  The other seniors who scored
were Gianni Vaiente with 5 points., Justin Knight with 7 points., and Theo Lugo added 2 points.  "This was a very fun night for the seniors," said Coach
Smith.  "I was very pleased how everyone played tonight."  Collin Weaver led North Pointe in scoring with 17 points. and Corey McKinney added 8
points.
