Varsity Girls Basketball 2009-2010 Schedule
Game 1 at Valley Christian
The North Pointe Lady Falcons Basketball team kicked off the season against #1 ranked Valley Christian. Things started out a little slow as the girl's fell
behind 11-6 in the first quarter. But the Falcon's kept battling and fought back with their strongest quarter in the second, limiting VC to only 2 points and
taking a 15-13 lead at the half. "We played the first half exactly the way we planned, controlling the tempo and keeping it a low scoring game," said
Coach Robbie Harper. In the second half VC's pressure forced the Falcon's to turn the ball over, which lead to easy baskets, as VC scored 27 of their
49 points in the third quarter. "We couldn't stop the bleeding in the third."  Taylor Little lead the team with 9 points, followed by Tiffany Green with 6
points and Corinne Peterson with 4 points.  Brittany Jajdelski grabbed 6 rebounds and scored 2 points.

Game 2 at Camp Verde
The Lady Falcon's dropped a heart breaker to conference foe Camp Verde in overtime, 46-47.  With the game being close the whole way, the
Falcon's had to fight through adversity in a hostile environment. Trailing by 4 points late in the 4th quarter, the Falcon's battled back to tie the game up
with less than one minute left to play.  After a timeout, the Falcon's pressured the Cowboys and forced a turnover and Taylor Little went in for the game
winning layup with seconds on the clock and was fouled. Unfortunately, she did not get the call and the game went into overtime. The Lady Falcons
continued to fight and with one second remaining, the Prep made the first of two free-throws and missed the 2nd, losing 46-47.  "It's disappointing losing
a road game like this but I was pleased with our effort," said Coach Harper.  "We had our opportunities but the shots were not falling for us tonight."
Tiffany Green lead the way in scoring (15 pts) and rebounding (12 rebounds), followed by Taylor Little scoring 14 pts, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3
steals. Corinne Peterson added 12 pts, 6 assists, and 3 steals.

Game 3 at Arizona Lutheran Academy
The Lady Falcons continue to struggle on the road, losing to 3rd ranked Arizona Lutheran, 48-24. The Falcons were  unable to get any kind of rhythm
going on offense and had no answer for ALA’s 6’3” center on defense. “We’ve had a tough stretch of games to start our season off,” said Coach
Harper. “We’re looking forward to playing some home games this week.” Tiffany Green led the way with 11 pts and 8 rebounds, followed by Corinne
Peterson with 10 points.

Game 4 vs Gilbert Christian
The Prep came up with a big win in their first home game of the season, defeating defending State 1A Champs, Gilbert Christian, 37-32. The Falcons
found out earlier in the day that they would be without team leader Taylor Little, who suffered a fractured hand. Younger players like Katie Booth and
Victoria Rivera stepped up and played well in Little’s absence. Booth received the majority of the minutes hitting key shots and grabbing important late
rebounds. Junior point guard Corinne Peterson delivered her best game of the short season, scoring 19 points and showing great leadership. Tiffany
Green displayed good outside shooting and hit clutch free-throws to help seal the win. “I was very pleased the leadership of our older girl’s and the
outstanding play from the younger players,” said Coach Harper.

Game 5 vs Precision
North Pointe won its second straight game defeating Precision, 44-32.  Defensive pressure forced Precision to make bad decisions and turnovers,
which led to easy baskets for the Falcons. The starting five for the Falcons did a good job of controlling the tempo of the game and getting out to a nice
lead. This allowed the younger players to get some valuable minutes and experience in a Varsity game. “With Taylor being out of the line-up until
January, this is allowing some of the other girls to get more minutes, which will benefit us later in the season,” said Coach Harper. Corinne Peterson led
the way for the second straight game scoring 21 points, followed by Tiffany Green’s 18 points.

Game 6 vs Horizon Honors
The Lady Falcons extend their winning streak to 3 in a row with a win over Horizon Honors, 39-34.  Things started out slow in the first quarter with the
Lady Falcons trailing 5–6. The game continued to be close through the second quarter and the Prep went up by one going into the half, 18-17.  North
Pointe was outscored 11 – 3 in the third and trailing 28–21 going into the fourth quarter. The Lady Falcons used the energy from the huge Hoops
Central crowd and Corinne Peterson’s 15 point fourth quarter to capture the win. Peterson led the Falcons with 21 points, followed by Tiffany Green’s 9
points.  In addition, Katie Booth and Victoria Rivera contribute with key shots and rebounds.

Game 7 vs Estrella Foothills
North Pointe played probably the worst game of the season losing to Estrella Foothills 25-55. Things started out close for the Falcon's, trailing 14-16 by
the end of the first quarter, but things got worse from there. The combination of Taylor Little, out of the line-up with an injury and Corinne Peterson
getting into early foul trouble, forced the Prep to use some of their younger, less experienced players. "We had a difficult time breaking the press and
getting the ball up the court with Corinne not in the game," said Coach Harper. Tiffany Green led the team with 12 points followed by Brittani Jajdelski's
5 points.

Game 8 at Bourgade Catholic
The Lady Falcon's started the New Year off flat as they fall to Bourgade Catholic 25-26. Playing their worst first half of the season, only scoring 4
points, the Falcon's fell behind 18-4 at the half. Determined to come back and make a game of it, the girl's went on a 9-0 run to start the 3rd quarter,
outscoring the Eagles 15-6 and entered the 4th quarter trailing by 5 points.  But the 1st half deficit proved to be too large, as time runs out on the
Falcon's. "I really can't say much of our 1st half offensive display," said Coach Harper.  "I hope we don't witness that again."  Taylor Little returns from
injury after missing the last seven games to lead the Falcon's with 14 points, 6 rebounds, & 3 steals.

Game 9 vs Phoenix Christian
The Lady Falcon's dropped their first home game of the season to #2 ranked Phoenix Christian 31-57.  With Hoops Central in full effect and emotions
running high, the Falcon's got off to a quick start scoring 12 first quarter points. At halftime the The Prep trailed 23-14, with Corinne Peterson scoring all
14 points for the Falcon's. The third quarter was much like the first, as the girl's scored another 12 points for the quarter with Taylor Little helping out
Peterson in the scoring category with 8 or her 11 points. By the end of the game the Falcon's were just over matched with talent, but not effort. "I was
happy with our effort from start to finish throughout the game," said Coach Harper. "That was a very good team we lost to tonight." Peterson led the
Falcon's with 20 points followed by Little's 11 points. Tiffany Green grabbed 14 rebounds, tying a school record for an individual game.

Game 10 at Northwest Christian
In the battle of 43rd Ave, the Lady Falcon’s cruised to a 56-28 victory over Northwest Christian. The Falcon’s jumped out to an early lead and never
looked back. Strong defense led to a 14-3 first quarter lead for the girl’s. Corinne Peterson’s impressive offensive skills were displayed in the first half,
with the point guard scoring 18 points, as the Falcon’s went into the halftime break leading 31-10. The third quarter was the most impressive of the
night with the Falcon’s scoring 23 points, led by Tiffany Green’s 10 points (three 3’s). “We’re starting to play better team basketball right now and I hope
we can continue this for the final stretch of the season,” said Coach Harper. Corinne Peterson led the way with 22 points, followed by Tiffany Green’s 18
points. Brittani Jajdelski led the team in rebounds and assists.

Game 11 vs Sedona
North Pointe dropped a close one against 3A Sedona Red Rock, 44-50. The Lady Falcons trailed at the end of the first quarter 11-8, but knotted things
up at the half 15-15. After a slow start in the third quarter, the Prep found themselves trailing by 13 points. Not giving up, the Falcon’s cut into the lead
and trailed by only 4 points late in the fourth quarter, but could not get any closer. “They were the better team tonight,” said Coach Harper. Corinne
Peterson led the team with 22 points and 6 steals followed by Taylor Little scoring 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Brittani Jajdelski had a big
night on the glass, grabbing 14 rebounds (10 offensive).

Game 12 vs Westwind
North Pointe won big over the Westwind Warriors 69-21.The starters, playing in a limited role, led the Falcon’s to a quick and scored 9 first quarter
points giving the Prep a 19-2 first quarter lead. With the role players getting into the game and playing quality minutes, the starters were able to get a
good breather and enjoy supporting their teammates. “It was good to see our starters switch roles and become cheerleaders on the bench for the other
girls,” said Coach Harper. Corinne Peterson continues to meet and exceed expectations, leading the Falcon’s in scoring with 24 points and 11 steals.
Tiffany Green followed Peterson’s lead, scoring 19 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Brittani Jajdelski continues to be a force on the offensive glass,
pulling down 7 offensive rebounds.

Game 13 at Tonopah
The Lady Falcon's won an important road game beating Tonopah Valley, 47-31. The game started out pretty even throughout the first quarter with the
Prep leading 11-9. With good defensive play and good shooting North Pointe pulled away in the second quarter with a 26-13 halftime lead. "Any time
you're playing a team with as many wins (9-2 record) as Tonopah, and playing at their place, you need to get out on top pretty quick and not allow them
to hang around and get their crowd involved," said Coach Harper. Getting a comfortable lead and keeping it is what the girl's did, extending their lead to
21 points at the end of the third quarter, 43-22. With the game in hand, younger Falcon players finished the fourth quarter with some valuable minutes.
Tiffany Green led the Falcon's with 19 points, knocking down five 3-pointers. Taylor Little put up good all-around stats, scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds,
and five steals. Corinne Peterson added 12 points and seven assists.

Game 14 vs Tempe Prep
The Lady Falcons cruised to a win over Tempe Prep, 42-28. Strong defense allowed North Pointe to jump out to a 17-4 lead in the 1st quarter. Tiffany
Green started out on fire, knocking down three 3-pointers in the first. Defensive pressure proved to be too much, as Tempe Prep had a difficult time on
offense, turning the ball over 22 times. "We were familiar with them from this past summer league," said Coach Harper. "Putting pressure on their
guards was key." The Falcon's had a 20 point lead at the half and never looked back. Corinne Peterson led the team in scoring with 19 points followed
by Tiffany Green's 14 points and setting a new school record with 15 rebounds.

quarter and led 33-17 at the half. Corinne Peterson started hot, scoring 10 first quarter points. "It was good to see us come out and play with energy
right from the start," said Coach Harper. That energy did not stop, as the Prep came out from the half-time break to outscore PCD 14-4 in the 3rd
quarter and take a commanding 47-21 lead at the end of the quarter. With the game well in hand, the younger Falcon players were able to finish the
game. Freshman guard Alysia Carreon scored 3 points and Sophomore post Hannah Arliskas scored 2 points. Corinne Peterson led the way with 16
points followed by Taylor Little's 12 points and Tiffany Green's 10 points.  Brittani Jajdelski had one of her better games scoring 7 points and grabbing 9
rebounds.

Game 16 at Scottsdale Christian
The Prep lost a tough one at SCA, 32-45.  The Lady Falcon's got off to a slow start, trailing 7-18 at the half.  "We knew that we were going to need to
come out fast to have a chance to win, but that didn't happened and we never made up for the slow start," said Coach Harper. The second half was
pretty even the rest of the way, as the Prep scored 25 points to SCA's 27 points.  Corinne Peterson led the team in scoring with 15 points, followed by
Taylor Little's 12 points.

Game 17 at Phoenix Country Day
The Lady Falcon's defeated the Eagles from Phoenix Country Day, 55-43.  For a second consecutive game the Prep started off slow, trailing 4-12 after
the 1st quarter, but got it back in the 2nd quarter outscoring the Eagles 21-5 and took a 25-17 halftime lead. Tiffany Green led the charge in the 2nd,
scoring 12 points, nine of the points coming from long range.  "It was good that Tiffany got hot," said Coach Harper. "We needed a spark and she gave
it to us."  The second half was pretty even, as North Pointe scoreed 30 to PCD's 26.  Tiffany Green led the way with one of her better shooting nights,
scoring 22 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.  Corinne Peterson started off slow, but finished strong, scoring 18 points.  Carissa Patterson had one
of her better games, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out 4 assists.

Patterson, who has played four years for the Prep, played their last home game with a lot of emotions and style.  "I'm glad that we were able to play well
and end this regular season on a high note for our Seniors," said Coach Harper.  "Now it's time to prepare for the State Tournament and look to extend
the high school careers for these girl's." Taylor Little led the Falcon's with 14 points and 8 rebounds, followed by Corinne Peterson's 13 points and
Tiffany Green's 10 points. Carissa Patterson hit a 3-pointer in her final home game.
