Game 1 vs Westwind Prep at Moon Valley
A record crowd watched the Falcons destroy the Warriors from Westwind, 41-0, Friday in the season opener of North Pointe's Football Friday night.
The Varsity Cheerline kept the estimated 1200 fans engaged throughout the game while the Prep's Marching Band and Color Guard put on an
amazing halftime show. The Falcons opened their third season in the AIA 2A division with 299 yards total offense (161 rushing/138 passing) and held
the Warriors to only 33 yards rushing and 97 yards passing, "The season opener was a great way for us to set the tone for the season," said Head
Coach Leon Thomas. "Russell Alvarado led the way both on offense and defense rushing 141 yards, scored two touchdowns (8 and 9 yard runs) and
had 7.5 tackles. The offensive line had a solid night too, giving Jesse Rico the protection he needed to throw for 132 yards and three touchdowns. We
also saw solid performances from Spencer Ulman and Joseph Tabor. Spencer caught key passes to keep drives alive on offense and recorded 5.5
tackles on defense. Joseph showed the kicking leg of a college bound kicker. His placement on kick-offs and his accuracy on the PAT’s will have
colleges drooling." Falcon touchdowns: Matt Arellano 1 yard reception; Spencer Ulman 33 yard reception; Alvarado 8 and 9 yard runs; Rico 11 yard
run; Jesse Sunderland 7 yard reception. Senior Kicker Joseph Tabor was a perfect 5-5 in extra point attempts in addition to a 28 yard fake punt run
.

Game 2 at Phoenix Christian
North Pointe's Football Friday Night show took their first road trip of the season and hundreds of fans watched the Falcons' defense dominate Phoenix
Christian in a 42-0 blowout. Senior Running Back Russell Alvarado could not be stopped and the Prep's defense only allowed one first down (by
penalty) until 3 minutes into the fourth quarter.

Game 3 vs Bourgade Catholic at Moon Valley
The Falcons played what was arguably the best half in their short two year history as they overcame a first half, 14-10, deficit and defeated Bourgade
Catholic 25-14. The victory and a 3-0 record has landed the Prep a #2 in the 2A power point rankings. The Prep's secondary struggled in the first half
giving up the 14 points. "They played a great second half," said Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator Ken Seavers. "This is what we've been
working on since last season and tonight that hard work paid off." The secondary shut down the Golden Eagles in the second half which included a
spectacular 47 yard interception by Junior Bryce Harris. The Falcon's offense continued to roll as Senior Russell Alvarado once again ran at will
rushing 129 yards on 18 carries including a 41 yard run and Senior Eric Altmaier led a defensive line that continued to dominate by holding the
Golden Eagles to only 18 rushing yards. The Falcon's scored in the second quarter on a Junior Matt Arellano 13 yard touchdown run and a Senior
Joseph Tabor extra point and 41 yard field goal. The Falcons second touchdown came in the third quarter on a Sophomore Jesse Rico 4 yard
touchdown pass to Harris. Tabor scored on a two point conversion after a bobbled snap. The Prep's final score came on an impressive 21 yard
touchdown by Rico. Tabor was good on the extra point.

Game 4 vs Lake Havasu at Deer Valley
The Falcons were impressive in their first loss of the season battling 5A Lake Havasu. The offensive passing game, lead by QB Jesse Rico, continually
moved the ball up the field (105 yards passing) while Senior RB Russell Alvarado ran almost at will. Dakota Kallas led the Prep's defense with a school
record 12 tackles, which included 1 sack. It is unusual for a 2A team to schedule a 5A team for a regular season game let alone homecoming.
However, the AIA controlled this year's football schedule and assigned the North Pointe to play Chandler Prep on September 18th. After the 2009
schedule was finalized, Chandler Prep petitioned the AIA to move to 1A and play 8 man football. Although the AIA declined their request, Chandler
Prep opted to move to an Associate Member status relieving them of the responsibility to fulfill their commitment to play their 2A schedule. After
contacting over 50 schools this past July, 3A Estrella High School was the only 2A/3A available and willing to play and the game was rescheduled to
play them. Then, during the first week of September, the AIA contacted the Prep and said that North Pointe would not be able to play Estrella High
School due to an ongoing AIA investigation of the school. North Pointe then contacted over 25 4A/5A schools and 5A Lake Havasu was the only school
available and willing to play.

Game 5 at Tempe Prep
Joseph Tabor broke his previous school record and kicked a 45 yard field goal in the Falcons loss to Tempe Prep. Unfortunately for the injury and
illness riddled Prep, that was the only score of the game for North Pointe. The Falcons found themselves down 17-3 at the half and could never dig
themselves out of the hole. "We still saw a couple of great things from our players," said Coach Leon Thomas. Matt Arellano led the receiving core with
47 yards on 3 catches. Justin McCaleb and Russell Alvarado led the defense with 6 tackles each.

Game 6 at Camp Verde
The Falcons got behind early and were never able to recover in Friday's game. Finding themselves down 20-0 in the first quarter and unable to move
the ball on offense, the Prep netted only 39 rushing yards and were unable to find an answer for Camp Verde's relentless rushing attack.  One
highlight was a stand-out performance that came from Corey McKinney who had 5 catches for 87 yards.

Game 7 at Tonopah Valley
The Falcon's first half was full of miscues and missed tackles which led to them falling behind early. The Prep continued to fight and come up with
some solid performances. Jessi Rico rushed for 132 yards on 16 carries. Matt Arellano gained 63 yards on 14 carries. Darrian Caulkins led the way on
defense with 9 tackles. "The team is continuing to grow and improve upon their football skills," said Coach Leon Thomas.

Game 8 vs Scottsdale Christian at Moon Valley
The first quarter of this contest provided a glimpse of how promising Falcon Football will be in the future. Scottsdale Christian scored first and the
Falcons rallied by driving the ball down field and scoring on as well. John Debus came off of the bench as quarterback when Jessi Rico went down with
a shoulder injury. "He did an excellent job of running the offense," said Coach Thomas, "considering his limited experience. Bryce Harris had an
excellent game on defense recording 5 tackles."

Game 9 vs Northwest Christian at Moon Valley
The Falcons fielded mostly Freshman and Sophomores when they faced #1 ranked Northwest Christian. "The experience gained by these young
players will benefit the program in the future," said Coach Thomas. Brandon McKinney got his first start as tailback. "Brandon made an excellent
showing in his first start," continued Coach Thomas. "He also averaged close to 15 yards per kick off return. We are extremely excited about his future."

Game 10 at Valley Christian
In their final game of the season, the Falcons faced a well balanced and well coached football team. The Falcons were out sized, but fought through till
the end. "Brandon McKinney had a great night rushing in his second start," said Coach Thomas. "He proved to Valley Christian that quit wasn’t in his
vocabulary. Dakota Kallas had a fantastic game on both sides of the football. His key tackles made it appear at times like he was the only defender on
the field."
