Algebra I
Algebra I provides a foundation in the basic concepts and skills of algebra. Students will be introduced to geometry
through the study of angles, polygons, circles and geometric proofs.
Grade: 9-12
Length: 2 Semesters
Prerequisite: Pre-Algebra or placement test
College Algebra
Students will learn such topics as graphical solution of simultaneous equations, basic trigonometric functions,
radicals, roots of quadratic equations, properties of real numbers, factoring, logarithms and antilogarithms,
exponential equations, vectors, and probability.
Grade: 9-12
Length: 2 Semesters
Prerequisite: C or higher in Algebra I, placement test, or instructor approval
College Algebra & Geometry (H) (UL)
Students will learn such topics as scientific notation, conic sections, roots of quadratic equations, including complex
roots, geometric proofs, inequalities and systems of inequalities, algebra of polynomials, algebraic word problems,
gas law, and set theory.
Grade: 9-12
Length: 2 Semesters
Prerequisite: B or higher in Algebra I, placement test, or instructor approval
Geometry & Trigonometry (H) (UL)
Students will continue to expand on topics learned in Algebra II as well as to learn such topics as permutations and
combinations, rectangular and polar representation of complex numbers, inverse trigonometric functions, graphs of
sinusoids, the binomial theorem, and the rational roots theorem.
Grade: 10-12
Length: 2 Semesters
Prerequisite: C or higher in College Algebra or College Algebra/Geometry, placement test, or instructor approval
Pre-Calculus (H) (UL)
Advanced topics from algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and mathematical analysis are interwoven to provide a firm
foundation for calculus. Topics include DeMoivre’s theorem, convergent geometric series, binomial theorem, and
rational roots theorem.
Grade: 11-12
Length: 1 Semester
Prerequisite: C or higher in Geometry/Trigonometry, placement test, or instructor approval
Calculus AB (UL/AP)
Students will cover all topics in Advanced Placement Calculus AB syllabi. Instruction includes review of functions,
review of trigonometry, limits, graphing calculators, derivates, and integrals. This course prepares students for the
Advanced Placement exam.
Grade: 11-12
Length: 1 Semester
Prerequisite: Pre-Calculus
Calculus BC (UL/AP)
Students will cover all topics in Advanced Placement Calculus BC syllabi. Instruction includes optimization problems,
integration, polar and inverse functions, motion analysis, applications of integrals, solids of revolution, L’Hopital’s rule,
logarithmic isolation, parametric functions, Newton’s method, trapezoidal rule, series, tests of convergence, slope
fields, Euler’s method, logistic growth, and arc length. This course prepares students for the Advanced Placement
exam.
Grade: 11-12
Length: 2 Semesters
Prerequisite: Calculus AB
Personal Finance
Personal Finance is designed to provide the student with a working knowledge of personal money management and
how it relates to living independently. The course presents topics such as personal budgeting, banking, credit, risk
management, housing, investing and taxes. 9-12 Prerequisite Algebra I
