ranking the Prep
There are many helpful adjustments being made to the Prep’s curriculum for next year, creating more flexibility for students in choosing their core track
as well as their electives.  “We believe these changes will better-prepare our students for the college experience, and introduce them to a wide variety
of skills and subjects that are a part of many career choices,” said Richard Gow, the Prep’s Principal.

ACADEMICS
In the English department, the 9th grade Lit & Comp class will place a much greater emphasis on writing. This will strengthen students writing skills for
both the standard and AP curriculum.

In Math, a full year of Geometry will be offered as part of the math track. In addition, Pre-Calculus and Calculus will be expanded to full-year courses.

The Science department will see the most changes.  Beginning with Junior High, 7th grade students will take a Life Science course while 8th graders will
focus on Earth Science.  At the High School level, the standard Freshman course will be Biology.  Sophomores will choose between Chem/Physics and
Honors Chemistry. Juniors and Seniors may choose any Science elective not previously taken.  Options include Anatomy & Physiology, Physics, AP
Physics, Forensic Science and Astronomy.

In High School Social Studies classes, although the content presentation will be at the AP level, each student will choose whether to take the course for
the standard credit, or opt for additional requirements to earn an AP credit for the class. Students will make their decision by the end of the second
week of school.

ATHLETICS
There are also a few changes in the athletic curriculum. Tumbling and weight-lifting will be coed for next year. “We must constantly be pushing to be
bigger, stronger, and faster and studies have shown that coed physical training helps improve student work ethic and progress,” said Erin Idczak, the
Prep’s Athletic Director.

ARTS
The Spring 2009 semester saw the addition of the preptv class, where students learn all aspects of video production, broadcast preptv‘s morning show
and film a variety of campus events.  Two new Arts courses will also be added this Fall - Intro to Electronic Arts for Junior High students, and Intro to
Web Animation for High School.

In addition to these recent additions, several elective courses have been streamlined for next year.  “In the past, Arts courses reflected the level of
achievement reached in a particular subject (Guitar I, Guitar II),” said Ian Morrison, the Prep’s Arts Director. “While this remains unchanged for band
and choir, our other performance-based Arts classes will see beginners learning alongside advanced students.  We feel that this diversity within the
classroom will give experienced performers mentoring opportunities as an enhancement to their own individual development.”

Privacy Policy
As a general rule, preptv does not post the last name of elementary students while identifying their participation in a school activity or promoting their accomplishment in Knowledge, Character,
and Leadership.  Likewise preptv does not include any reference to a student in a posted jpeg or mpeg image file name.  These precautions should eliminate parental concerns about a child being
identified as the result of an Internet search.  However, in the event that a parent is uncomfortable with a posted text or image, preptv will remove the text or image upon notification.
